NAH Collective: Assault
My 4th year students Akissi Beukman and Njabulo Nkosi. We formed an artist collective. We called it NAH.
Our first performance "Assault" came at rape culture and exclusion in the institution. We used a South African urban legend called Pinky Pinky as a starting point. The accompanying sound piece formed the basis of the performance, fusing academic notes with a Pinky Pinky song.
It was Women's Day. The artist Aqui Thami was facilitating a poster making workshop earlier that way. It was hard. We threw salt at wounds. We transcended.
With Njabulo Nkosi and Akissi Beukman.
