Vangile Gantsho launches Red Cotton in Grahamstown

A former creative writing student, Vangile Gantsho presented some excerpts from her self published book Red Cotton. Her former supervisor Robert Berold gave a brief introduction, giving us insight to some of the formal aspects of the writing but also some key notes on the writers relationship with the narrative in particular, the balance between the personal and the political.

The readings were brief but performed with perfect eloquence which is unsurprising from this seasoned orator.  The q&a session was brief, Gantsho’s answers were thoughtful yet succinct. The event was held at Eastern Star Gallery on Anglo-African Street and made possible by NELM.
